AUGUSTINE
East Anaheim Christian Church
is part of a large association of churches known as the Christian Churches. We seek to be a church that stands solely on Scripture and the practices of the New Testament Church.
The Christian Churches/Churches of Christ are composed of about 5,500 churches across the United States with a total membership of over one million. National conventions meet annually for the purposes of fellowship and counsel but have no authority over each independent congregation. The churches develop leadership through 38 Bible colleges and seminaries in which over 6,000 students are enrolled. The church also ministers through over 1,000 other para-church agencies such as evangelistic associations, church camps, benevolence groups, children's homes, nursing homes, publishing houses, and more.
We Believe:
We Believe in the trinity of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We believe that they are distinct personalities with distinct roles, but one God and that One God is the Creator of all things.
We Believe Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the Savior, the Son of God who was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on a cross, was raised from the grave and will return.
We Believe our salvation and eternal life comes only through Jesus Christ and cannot be earned. It is the gift of God.
We Believe that the Bible is the divinely inspired, perfect Word of God and the source of all we teach and preach.
We Believe that faith is followed by repentance, and baptism. Baptism is the tangible means God has given us to accept His gift of faith. The New Testament form of immersing our bodies under the water demonstrates our union with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.
We Believe that the Lord’s Supper is a special gift from God, a continual assurance of our forgiveness through the atoning body and blood of Christ on the cross. As was done in the New Testament Church, we partake of the Lord's Supper every time we gather in worship.
We Believe that everyone who accepts Christ as Lord and Savior has the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit who acts as a Comforter, Guide, and Advocate.
We Believe the church, as the body of Christ, is the extension of Jesus Christ's character, attitude, behavior, and mission in our world today.
We Believe that God listens to and responds to our prayers given in humility as we seek His will and guidance.
